Welcome to the official iDM guide and FAQ

Gameplay

Playing iDM is easy, you simply type the commands matching the action you wish to perform in a channel that iDM has been invited.

To invite iDM simply type:
"/invite idm" followed by your channel name

To start a deathmatch with another player type "!dm" and wait for another player to accept your challenge.

During a deathmatch you will need to choose which attacks you want to use, you can find a list on the commands page or ingame by typing "!dmcommands".

All iDM commands can be triggered by using '.' '!' or '@'. Using '@' will force most messages to show public rather than private.

Combat Triangle

iDM utilises a combat triangle system somewhat similar to Runescape. During a DM it is assumed that you don armour matching the attack that you use.

The result is that if you use a magic attack, you will be more vulnerable to a range attack next turn than any other, and that melee attacks will be less effective.

The combat triangle will not allow you to hit higher than max, or limit your max hit, but it will adjust the chances of doing so. In most cases it reduces the chance of hitting 0 or in the < 10 range to less than half it would be normally.

This technique can also be used against the GWD mobs. Check which type of attack the GWD uses and use attacks which hits harder against it.

Melee > Range > Mage > Melee

Unlockables

There are a number of items in iDM that can be unlocked during gameplay. A large number of these related to the actual attacks you can use. For example you must unlock the godswords before you can use them.

Along with weapons there are also armour items which will boost either your attack damage or your defence. These items along with most weapons can be found in the store located in your account panel (type !account). Some of these items will also be awarded occasionally as a reward after a match, and some items will only be available this way.

There are a number of PvP items which drop in stacks and can be used a limited number of times.

Details of most of these items can be found on the 'Equip' tab where as attack details are found on the 'Attacks' tab.

Along with these items there are also special admin items, which are generally gained through helping the iDM staff with things such as suggestions. For more info visit the staff items page.

Hints

  • Utilising the combat triangle during gameplay will make it more likely to hit closer to max damage.

  • Starting the DM with a poison attack, will allow the poison to do maximum damage over the length of a DM.

  • Healing attacks do less damage, but sometimes the benefit is worth it.

  • The surf command is the most accurate in the game, but it also has the lowest max. It is best used to get those below 20hp KO's.

  • DH will hit much higher if you have less than 9HP.

  • Each attack has its own accuracy curve, some attacks will never hit 0, while others will be barely able to reach their max damage.

Rules

By playing iDM you agree to follow the following 3 rules.

  1. DO NOT cause harm to the functionality of the iDM bots
    • Spamming commands
    • Abusing bugs
  2. DO NOT abuse your channel access to make it unfair to other users, or prevent staff from doing their job
    • Do not kick people from DMs
    • Do not prevent players from playing fairly
    • Not allowing iDM staff to check on reports of bugs or rule breakers
  3. DO NOT use unfair means to gain ranks/money
    • Parting a channel during a DM to get out of the loss
    • Using a friend to let you win
    • Using scripts to automate the DMing process

Staff reserve the right to blacklist any channel or suspend any user if suspected of breaking rules but not limited to the examples stated above.

Penalties

There are various ways to recieve cash penalties when playing iDM. Penalties happen automatically. The staff will not refund penalties even if you can prove it was an accident. While some of the penalties change in size, all are large enough to prevent excessive abuse, while small enough to be forgotten if you trigger them accidentally.

Some of the penalties

  • Qutting during a DM - 2% of your cash.
  • Changing nick during a DM - 2% of your cash.
  • Parting the channel during a DM - 2% of your cash.
  • Timing out a DM with the bot or !enddm - 0.5% of your cash.

Channel Blacklists

Channel Blacklists are set by Admins and Support staff.
The only person who can remove the blacklist is the person who issued it.
In order to get a blacklist removed you must use the appeal system.

When a channel gets blacklisted, the bot will be unable to join that channel again, unless the blacklist is first removed.
In order to get the blacklist removed you will need to use the !account system to create an appeal. Only channel owners and ops should do this for a channel.

A channel may be blacklisted for many reasons, usually related with bot abuse.
If an op or owner requests a channel to be blacklisted to prevent the bot joining a private channel, either that person or the current channel owner can appeal to have the blacklist removed.

Ignores

User ignores and account suspensions are set by Admins and Support staff.
The only person who can remove the ignore/suspend is the person who issued it.
In order to get a ignore/suspend removed you must use the appeal system.

If you are suspended from the bot you have done an action which breaks one of our rules.
In order to get the block removed you will need to use the !account system to create an appeal. Users who are completely ignored from the bot will need to visit #idm.support
The issuer can then either remove it if the appeal is accepted, or remove it after a fixed period of time, depending on the severity of your actions.

If you get ignored from the bot for typing a large number of commands quickly, this ignore will expire after a short period of time and does not need appealed.
You should have been noticed the length of the ignore when you exceeded the flood warning limit.

VIP

VIP's can be found in any official iDM channel. VIP's are not staff but may be able to offer assistance.

Inviting iDM

To invite iDM to a channel you will need at least 4 people in the channel (including service bots).

To invite iDM type: /invite iDM <channel>
Replacing <channel> with the channel to invite to.
This command should always invite the 'fastest' bot or at least the bot with the lowest active load.

The iDM bot itself will never join a channel on invite and is reserved for #iDM

Normal bots

These are the bots that will join channels when invited.

All invite-able bots will have halfop in #iDM.

  • iDM[Newbies] - Only allowed in #iDM.Newbies
  • iDM[GWD] - Only allowed in #iDM.Gwd
  • iDM[Stats] - Channel stats bots, not inviteable

Jackpot

Each ticket is 250m and you are limited up to 5 per person. The price of each ticket that is purchased those two hours is added to the pot. All money earned from DMs/GWD during those two hours is also added to the pot.

A random user will be selected and that user will be announced in #iDM and by all iDM bots and the jackpot will be reset. There is a random chance that the jackpot will be a super jackpot which will reward 20 cookies and the amount of money it normally would.

If there haven't been 10 people that purchased a ticket in those two hours, the pot will carry over to the next one (meaning you don't have to buy a new ticket) and all money earned from DMs/GWD during the next two hours will be added as well until the jackpot is won.
